Leaky Gut is the driver of most chronic illnesses

HEALTHY GUT

What is Leaky Gut?

Leaky gut is when substances leak through the gut wall from the gut lumen (where they should be) into the circulatory system (where they shouldn’t be).

Leaky gut starts with dysbiosis in the digestive tract.

Dysbiosis means low microbial diversity and low levels of keystone strains.

The integrity and formation of the mucosa layer in our gut is dependent on keystone strains. Once we have low levels of keystone strains and low diversity, then we don’t have a protective microbiota and the mucosa layer becomes disrupted.

When the mucosa layer is disrupted, we tend to get a lot of microbes moving to the inner part of the mucus layer, which is normally microbe free.

The way the body defends itself at this point is by increasing inflammation in the mucosa.

The mucosa layer is where the majority of immune sampling occurs, and normally there’s an organized orchestra of immune responses to understand what’s coming into the body, what to attack, and what not to attack.

Increased inflammation in the mucosa can disrupt this process and cause an abnormal immune response.

Over time, this results in inflammatory damage to the intestinal tight junctions and a dysfunctional gut barrier.

When the gut barrier is damaged, substances leak through the gut wall into the circulatory system.

One substance is called lipopolysaccharide (LPS), which is an endotoxin that causes chronic low-grade inflammation when it leaks into circulation. This chronic inflammation leads to disease.

Numerous papers are now showing that many chronic diseases are being driven by LPS endotoxin moving from the intestinal lumen (where it should be) into the blood (where it shouldn’t be), and it’s an area institutes are focusing their research for chronic disease prevention.

The Solution

Spore-based probiotics such as MegaSporeBiotic have been clinically shown to stop LPS from migrating through the gut wall into circulation, and alleviate leaky gut in just 30 days.

MegaSporeBiotic contains 5 strains of Bacillus spores, which are naturally designed to survive digestion.

What is a Spore-Based Probiotic?

In spore form, Bacillus surrounds itself with an endospore, which is a tough, natural outer shell that protects it from light, heat, pressure, acid, lack of oxygen, and other environmental factors. This key feature is what allows the spores to survive easily through digestion without the need for enteric-coated capsules or refrigeration.

Most probiotics contain some combination of Lactobacillus and/or Bifidobacterium. However, these products are often single strain-single effect probiotics that have a difficult time surviving the harsh environment of our digestive system.

MegaSporeBiotic differs from other probiotics in a number of ways:

  • Survivability – MegaSporeBiotic contains 5 strains of Bacillus that have been shocked into their resilient spore form. In this form, the bacteria are impervious to heat, light, acid, pressure, radiation, and lack of oxygen. This unique feature allows MegaSporeBiotic to naturally survive the harsh environment of our digestive tract. Most other probiotics die when they hit our gastric system.

  • Leaky Gut Repair – MegaSporeBiotic has been clinically shown to alleviate leaky gut in a matter of 30 days without any additional interventions, making it one of the most effective leaky gut solutions available today.

  • Carotenoid Production – Carotenoids are the beneficial antioxidants found in coloured fruits and vegetables. However, most people don’t eat many coloured fruits and vegetables, and carotenoids from dietary supplements are poorly absorbed. A carotenoid-rich probiotic contains beneficial bacteria that produce high levels of carotenoids right at the site of absorption, allowing for optimum uptake into the body.

  • Increased Microbial Diversity – The bacterial strains in MegaSporeBiotic have been shown to significantly increase microbial diversity and keystone strains in the gut in a SHIME study (Simulator of the Human Intestinal Microbial Ecosystem).

  • Competitive Exclusion – The spores found in MegaSporeBiotic have the ability to detect harmful and opportunistic pathogens through a method known as quorum sensing. This allows the spores to identify and crowd out any unwanted pathogens in the gut. *This helps avoid the use of strong antimicrobials that can contribute to further gut dysfunction

  • Immune Support – Studies show that Bacillus subtilis promotes the development of GALT (gut-associated lymphoid tissue), which is critical to the formation of a properly functioning and robust immune system. MegaSporeBiotic also supports the immune system by stimulating Peyer’s patches, as well as Toll-like receptors, in order to improve pattern recognition, increase circulating T and B lymphocytes, and upregulate regulatory T cells. The end result is a healthier gut lining and a stronger immune system that is better equipped to handle unfavourable lifestyle and environmental factors that can lead to conditions like asthma, allergies, autoimmunity, and infections.

  • Metabolic Reconditioning – The latest research has shown that the type of bacteria in the gut can dictate food cravings and even calorie extraction from ingested foods. These effects are realized by turning on crucial genes in the digestive tract that control our metabolic fate. MegaSporeBiotic, in conjunction with a moderate protein, low sugar, and fibre-rich diet, can reprogram the body through the modification of key genetic activations to favour fat burn, reduce fat accumulation, and increase energy metabolism, satiety, and blood sugar regulation.

For general gut health, I recommend the Total Gut Restoration Protocol by Microbiome Labs.

If someone has H.Pylori, SIBO, GERD, IBD, IBS, Candida overgrowth, or bloating, I will modify the protocol and products used.

The Total Gut Restoration Protocol

I teach this protocol for restoring the gut microbiome in detail in Nourished For Life

1. RECONDITION

MEGASPOREBIOTIC

RECONDITION

Step 1 (Weeks 1-4):

Week 1:

Start with one capsule of MegaSporeBiotic every other day with a meal. Reduce dose to ½ or ¼ cap if experience major die-off symptoms and increase dose on a weekly basis, or remove the MegaSporeBiotic and immediately start on the MegaMucosa to focus on thickening the mucosa layer first. I often recommend starting with MegaMucosa for those with Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's and/or long history of antibiotic use. You can also add Mega IgG2000 (4 capsules/day) to help with die-off symptoms and for additional immune support. Mega IgG2000 helps bind toxins and/or pathogens, prevent inflammation and promote the removal of toxins and/or pathogens in the die-off process.

Week 2:

One capsule of MegaSporeBiotic daily with a meal.

Week 3 and 4:

Two capsules of MegaSporeBiotic daily (taken together) with a meal.

2. REINFORCE

MEGAPREBIOTIC

REINFORCE

Step 2 (Weeks 5-8):

Week 5:

Finish Mega IgG2000. Continue if it is helping with detox symptoms.

Continue taking MegaSporeBiotic

Add MegaPrebiotic, starting with 1/2 a scoop in water daily, with or without food

Week 6, 7 and 8:

Continue taking Mega IgG2000 if it is helping with detox symptoms

Continue taking MegaSporeBiotic

One full scoop of MegaPrebiotic in water daily, with or without food

3. REBUILD

MEGAMUCOSA

REBUILD:

Step 3 (Weeks 9+):

Week 9+:

Add MegaMucosa, taking one full scoop in water daily, with or without food. Can take separately or with MegaPrebiotic in the same drink.

Continue taking MegaSporeBioticMegaPrebiotic, and MegaMucosa until the situation improves.
